Deep breath – Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meet Up in Bellabel Park has been dated and detailed. In a big brained synergistic brand move, Nintendo is launching the port/expansion on March 26, a week before The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theatres.
Nintendo had already revealed the co-op-focused expansion, called Meetup in Bellabel Park, last year, but the publisher's given it a full blow out via the Nintendo Today app alongside a colorful trailer, well, today.

The highlight of the expansion is the addition of cosmic princess Rosalina as a playable character (another nice move tying into the upcoming big screen flick), as well as Co-Star Luma, who is interestingly only playable when you're in co-op. Luma's whole deal is that they can assist whoever's running about by collecting coins and attacking enemies without taking any damage whatsoever. And since Luma flies all about the screen instead of jumping about, you can even control them with the Switch 2's mouse.

Hopping over to Bellabel Park, the multiplayer expansion is split up into two plazas. One is entirely dedicated to local co-op and competitive modes, with 17 available 'attractions' and up to four players on the same system. The other supports online play with up to 12 people or local wireless play with up to eight people, and a more trimmed down selection of modes.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is also bringing a whole host of other goodies, including an assist mode, a new flamboyant flower powerup, and mini challenges hosted by Captain Toad. 'Collect X number of coins within the time limit' type of stuff. All Koopalings are returning too, this time scattered across the game's existing, already excellent stages.
After Rosalina and Bowser Jr.'s appearances in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer, Chris Pratt hints at "a couple more" character surprises: "People should be excited."
