A brand new Dragon Ball game has been confirmed at the series' 40th anniversary event, with a character designed by series creator Akira Toriyama, who passed away in 2024.
At Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri – the series' 40th anniversary event – this past weekend, the series received a ton of news. Not only will the Dragon Ball Super anime be continuing into the Galactic Patrol arc, but the anime's first arc – that retold the 2013 movie Battle of Gods – will be remade as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. However, the biggest announcement has to be the new game releasing in 2027.

Age 1000 is notably when the MMO Dragon Ball Online takes place, with the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series – which borrows heavily from Dragon Ball Online – taking place in the 800s. With a similar timeframe, there's a chance that this could be Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. The game is scheduled to have more news released at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 this April, so we'll hopefully find out for sure then.
Meanwhile, Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero has a new batch of DLC characters confirmed to be arriving in-game this year, with the likes of Great Demon King Piccolo, Super Android 17, Tao Pai Pai, and Ciampa spotted in the teaser trailer.
Toriyama was also heavily involved in the Dragon Quest series, with Dragon Quest 12 revealed back in 2021. Series creator Yuji Horii hasn't directly confirmed if Toriyama's work will be in the game; however, he said he wants the game "to be something worthy of the posthumous work" for both Toriyama and series composer Koichi Sugiyama – who passed away in 2021 – which seems to imply he worked on it. Given that this 2027 title has Toriyama designs in it, it feels like there's a good chance the manga legend contributed to the upcoming RPG, but as of right now, nothing is confirmed.
If you want to catch up before Age 1000 releases, here's how to watch Dragon Ball in order.
