The current version of the original Final Fantasy 7 on Steam has existed since 2013, but it's now going the way of the dodo, Square Enix has announced. "A new version" has been announced that'll replace the current version, but details are virtually non-existent as far as what's "new."
In a new Steam update, Square Enix fully explained how the new Final Fantasy 7 will replace the current one and what that means for people who own the game, but stopped short of explaining what exactly is different about the new version.

Jordan GerblickSocial Links NavigationAfter earning an English degree from ASU, I worked as a corporate copy editor while freelancing for places like SFX Magazine, Screen Rant, Game Revolution, and MMORPG on the side. I got my big break here in 2019 with a freelance news gig, and I was hired on as GamesRadar's west coast Staff Writer in 2021. That means I'm responsible for managing the site's western regional executive branch, AKA my home office, and writing about whatever horror game I'm too afraid to finish.
