Releases from David Bowie, The Snuts and Nilüfer Yanya are among new announcements for this year’s Record Store Day.

The 19th annual instalment of the event, which celebrates independent record shops and vinyl culture all around the UK, is taking place on Saturday 18 April, with more than 280 shops taking part.

Traditionally, artists issue special edition exclusive releases for RSD, and among the one-off releases this time around will be two rare Bowie records.

The first is a 12” neon pink EP of the classic ‘90s single ‘Hallo Spaceboy’, featuring remixes from Pet Shop Boys, Dave Ball and Ingo Vauk and a new mix from Tim Simenon, while the other is a half-speed record of excerpts from 1995’s ‘1.OUTSIDE’ LP.

That album, on which ‘Hallo Spaceboy’ was originally included, saw Bowie reunite with Brian Eno and was influenced by industrial and jazz music, as well as David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. This new 1LP version will be available on clear vinyl, after having been out of print for over a decade.

Other special releases will include a trio of live recordings from The Snuts, Nilüfer Yanya and Kokoroko, with each of the artists recording tracks live in a single take and having the tracks pressed directly to vinyl at Metropolis Studios in London without edits or retakes.

The Snuts’ tracks were recorded at Boiler Shop in Newcastle last October, while Yanya played tracks from her 2024 album ‘My Method Actor’ live at Metropolis for the release.

She has said: “My band and I cherry picked four songs from the live show that we have been touring since the release of ‘My Method Actor’ that take on a life of their own on stage. Having the opportunity to record these at Metropolis archives the live show at a moment in time and hopefully makes for an enjoyable listening experience.”

Kokoroko, meanwhile, will be offering a 4-track EP that includes music from their 2025 album ‘Tuff Times Never Last’, as well as a cover of ‘Express Your Love’ by Sweet and Innocent.

The full, extensive list of releases for Record Store Day 2026 is expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The official UK ambassador for RSD 2025 was Sam Fender, who also released a six-track 12-inch vinyl record to mark the occasion, ‘Me And The Dog’. Post Malone took on an ambassador role for last year’s edition, too. The likes of Taylor Swift, Kate Bush, The 1975, Noel Gallagher and Elton John have all previously taken on the title.

RSD ’25 saw exclusive releases from Oasis, Charli XCX, Fred Again.., The Cure, Gorillaz, Taylor Swift and many more. Fans queued from the early hours to get hold of special edition vinyl from their local indie record shops. Check out the full list here.
