Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon privately boasted to Jeffrey Epstein about a secret, privately funded border wall in Texas, according to a new report.
El Paso Matters noted that Bannon told Epstein he was staying in the background of the prject while associates Kris Kobach and Brian Kolfage served as the public faces.
The project took place in Sunland Park, New Mexico. Officials said they were surprised by the project but were unable to stop it.
"My wall dude — New Mexico – right outside El Paso — in total secret — we go on fox and friends on Monday to release," Bannon said during Memorial Day weekend in 2019.
Bannon later faced federal charges over the private wall effort before receiving a last-minute presidential pardon in January 2021 before Trump finished his first term.
Epstein's relationship with Bannon has been documented in several files. A previous tranche of documents released last year showed the two meeting in person.
Bannon has conceded he was making a movie about Epstein before he died by suicide.
