Subscribe to our newsletterTrouble is brewing in the world of Helldivers 2, where ominous binary messages sent out to loyal citizens of Super Earth suggest that the bots are planning something – and folks are theorizing it might not be the Automatons, but the return of the Cyborgs.
Over on the game's official Twitter account (as well as in its Discord server), a message composed entirely of ones and zeroes was shared out of the blue. Putting this into a binary to text translator, we're given a more comprehensible phrase: "SUPER JORDENS FOLK. VAR ICKE RÄDDA. VI ÄR INTE HÄR FÖR ATT ORSAKA SKADA."

A second message translates from binary to "NI HAR BLIVIT LURADE AV ERA LEDARE. ORDEN DE TALAR ÄR ICKE SANNA. VI VILL HA FRED." Machine translated, this appears to be a democracy-hating message attacking the good leaders of Super Earth: "YOU HAVE BEEN DECEIVED BY YOUR LEADERS. THE WORDS THEY SPEAK ARE NOT TRUE. WE WANT PEACE."
But while it'd be easy to blame this all on the Automatons, some are theorizing we may be facing another faction – the Cyborgs from the first game. Following a recent Warbond trailer, fans were quick to point out that it appeared that Cyborgs were being teased at the end, noting that the noises heard sounded very "different to any of the current bots." Another wrote: "Those are the cyborgs voice lines from Helldivers 1 right there, back on the menu." Needless to say, across the game's Discord server, many are speculating that this is the start of the Cyborgs' return: "CYBORGS TODAY," one writes.
Either way, things are clearly heating up – is this the major update that Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani teased "a lot of Helldivers will die" in? We'll just have to wait and see, but stay on guard, Helldivers.
