Subscribe to our newsletterArc Raiders had sold over 12 million copies as of January 12, so Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund is right to say "you don't have to be a math professor to realize that the game has done well for us." But the specifics of the game's profitability and its impact on Embark's plans, including the development of two new games, remains interesting.
Söderlund gets into Arc Raiders' reception and finances in an interview with IGN. "Of course, it's been very profitable for us," he says.
Asked about recent reports claiming Arc Raiders was made on a budget of $75 million, Söderlund wouldn't give specific numbers, but did say this estimate was "not too far off" the reality, as Embark hadn't been spending "hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars."

Söderlund sounds bittersweet in his acknowledgement that, where "our industry has been riddled with layoffs and studio closures for the past, I would say, 24 months," Embark now has a comfortable war chest.
"We’ve heard your feedback": Arc Raiders lowers Expedition requirement to 3 million coins, lets players "catch up" on missed skill points from the first Expedition for just 300k each.
