PinkPantheress has shown off her knowledge of Lady Gaga and Harry Styles during an appearance on game show The Weakest Link.

The singer, who created NME’s number one song of 2025 with ‘Illegal’, was a contestant on the BBC One quiz show on Saturday night (February 7), alongside a panel of actors, comedians and sportspeople.

With contestants being voted off one-by-one at the end of each round, Pink put in a strong showing, answering questions on a range of subjects.

She knew that Harry Styles’ song is called ‘Music For A Sushi Restaurant’ and not ‘Music For A Greasy Spoon’, and she knew that the popstar who launched the ‘Mayhem Ball’ tour was in fact Lady Gaga.

On other topics she was less sure-footed, suggesting that the Shakespeare play’s full title is The Merry Wives Of Chaka Khan, but she made it to the final three, finishing behind only comedian Harriet Kemsley and podcaster and Jack Whitehall’s mother, Hilary Gish Whitehall.

The Underworld-sampling ‘Illegal’ was released as part of her second mixtape ‘Fancy That’ in May last year, and in naming it the song of the year, NME noted: “Pink has made headlines for standing by her sub-three-minute hits, and with this adrenaline-fuelled thrillride, she’s once again proved that’s all the time she needs. Combining winking storytelling smarts, artful sampling, cheeky culture-defining quips (those opening lines!) and dance floor-filling beats, ‘Illegal’ showed us just how big she could go. A true feat.”

When asked by NME why she thought the track had resonated with so many, she said: “I don’t know if it’s anything too deep, other than having a [TikTok] trend for it helped and also the sample is quite timeless. I think the power of the beat itself is what people really like about it.”

The track was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Pop Recording, ultimately losing out to Lady Gaga’s ‘Abracadabra’. She is also nominated for Artist of the Year and Best Dance Act at next month’s BRIT Awards.

She is heading out on the road this summer, playing festivals including All Points East with Lorde and Open’er in Poland.
