Republican Rep. Tim Burchett said that "a lot of congressmen should be in jail" over their involvement with sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein but he doesn't think there will be any accountability.

Speaking on Newsmax, Burchett focused on former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who are set to take part in a hearing over their inclusion in the files.

The lawmaker said the two should be in prison "a reason" why they're not is the fact that "he was in the White House for two terms and she was secretary of state, because they're very slippery and they're very smart and I think they're an evil pair."

"I think she is probably the brains behind the operation, but I don't think we'll get much on them. I know a lot of people want us to get them, and it'd be great clickbait, I'm sure, but I think when it comes down to it they'll either bail or they won't answer very many questions and be very evasive," he added.

He went on to say "a lot of lawmakers probably should be in jail, but the truth is that we're not gonna." "I don't think it'll boil down to anything, and that's gonna make a lot of people mad, but I believe that's the truth," he added.

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also doubted there will be accountability for many involved with Epstein, but she pointed the finger at President Donald Trump.

Speaking on Home of the Brave, Greene recalled that Trump "yelled" at her about the matter. "He called me a traitor because I wouldn't take my name off the discharge petition," which eventually forced a vote to release the files.

"I don't support the coverup of all of this stuff, whatever it may be. The president told me his friends would get hurt. We're seeing a continued slow walk and cover up of a lot of this information and i know that is why," Greene added.

"Pam Bondi is not an independent attorney general. She works at the pleasure and approval of the president of the United States, everyone does. So does the FBI. you can name anybody you want, but the man at the top is Donald Trump. He's the president and he's the one that was completely against releasing the files," she said.

Another recent report claimed that Trump celebrated criminal sex charges against Epstein 20 years ago, telling the then-Palm Beach police chief that the activities were well-known there and in New York.

The Miami Herald noted that Trump told Michael Reiter "thank goodness you're stopping him, everyone has known he's been doing this." This stands in contrast with Trump's repeated claims that he had no knowledge of Epstein's sex crimes.
