Life is Strange: Reunion is the next outing in the beloved series from publisher Square Enix, and it's just a few weeks away. Developed by Deck Nine, the upcoming sequel to Life Is Strange: Double Exposure has been on fans' minds for just over a year since it was announced, and with the recent news that it'll also be closing Max Caulfield and Chloe Price's chapter in the series once and for all, its quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated new games for 2026.
Double Exposure landed in 2024 as one of the year's best adventure games and left us with plenty of questions about where the story would go next, so needless to say, we were happy to see Square Enix drop an announcement stream on January 20, 2026. Revealing a ton of details about the next chapter in the narrative sci-fi story, we saw a fancy new clip teasing gameplay, along with a fresh release date announcement and more. We now know a bunch about Life is Strange: Reunion and decided to make a handy guide so that you can keep up to date with all the latest news and information. So keep reading below to find everything that you need to know about Max and Chloe's big return.
Life is Strange: Reunion release date
Good news, the Life is Strange: Reunion release date is confirmed to be March 26, 2026. That means that we are just a few weeks away from being able to grab the next instalment of the iconic series for ourselves.

Since 2025, we've known that a sequel to the Double Exposure was on its way. In fact, a 2026 release window had already been hinted at for quite some time; however, on January 20, 2026, Square Enix officially shocked us all by sharing how soon the title would be hitting the shelves. Hopefully, that date sticks, and no delays happen. We'll keep you posted if any changes pop up, but in the meantime, you can read our Life Is Strange: Double Exposure review to catch up on the story.
Life is Strange: Reunion platforms
When it releases in March, Life is Strange: Reunion will be available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. So no matter your console, you will be sorted.
Currently, there is no word on a Switch 2 release date. However, there is hope that the game will eventually come to Nintendo's new system since the hybrid console has been getting more big titles recently, such as Cyberpunk, and Assassin's Creed Shadows. We'll let you know if Life is Strange: Reunion gets added to our list of upcoming Switch 2 games, but for now, at least we know that we can buy it everywhere else.

Life is Strange: Reunion will be set in Caledon University, but this time, Max Caulfield is a photography teacher. Tragedy strikes when Max soon finds the university up in flames, and her friends, co-workers and students are all dead. Max only managed to escape the incident thanks to her Rewind powers that we were introduced to all the way back in the first-ever Life is Strange game from Don't Nod.
For those who need a quick refresher, Max has a supernatural power that lets her turn back time. And in the new game, she'll be using her abilities to go back three days before the massive fire to try to work out how it began and, subsequently, how to stop it. But playing with timelines can be messy, and Max gets a shocking surprise once Chloe Price ends up popping up at Caledon.
Chloe is haunted by a past that she has never lived, having nightmares regularly and is struggling to keep her grip on reality as a result. So Max not only has to save Caledon University, but also help Chloe. Their story will lead players on narrative twists and turns and eventually lead to what Square Enix describes as the "epic climax that serves as a finale to the Max and Chloe saga." Expect this one to be a tear-jerker, folks.

Life is Strange: Reunion gameplay
Life is Strange: Reunion is a narrative adventure game that utilizes exploration, environmental problem-solving, and branching dialogue choices that will lead players down different narrative pathways. The formula is very similar to previous games in the series; however, a big change in the upcoming title is that, for the first time in Life is Strange's history, you can play as both Max and Chloe.
By playing as both Max and Chloe, players will get to experience the story from different perspectives, as well as use the two's different abilities to progress the story. In Max's case, you'll be using her Rewind power to change the course of conversations, undo and redo certain decisions, and change the environment around you in order to solve four-dimensional puzzles every now and again.
Max's rewind ability will also let her investigate and search for clues during certain gameplay sections. This rewind ability is also more flexible than ever before since it can be used at any time during the game, and also to skip directly to the last action that you did as well. There are still limitations, though. Players can only go back a few minutes in time with Max's rewind ability. You can't undo something that happened before she arrived, so you'll need to act using your instincts when it comes to the supernatural power.
When you take on the role of Chloe, you'll have access to her Backtalk ability – which featured in the prequel, Life is Strange: Before the Storm. This skill is very much more charisma-focused, as you'll be able to use quick wits during key moments, use your confident attitude to sway key suspects, and also get access to areas where Max can't. The characters' abilities really do complement each other, and fit into the personalities that we've come to know and love over the years.
It should also be noted that the decisions you made in past games will result in different branching dialogue trees. So don't worry, if you had previously decided to sacrifice Chloe in past games, the new story seems to address this, from what we've seen or heard of so far. Storytelling is always a massive driver in the Life is Strange gameplay, so expect Max and Chloe's interactions, character journeys and the build-up to their eventual ending to dominate a lot of your attention and playstyle.
Can you pre-order Life is Strange: Reunion?
Yes! Grab your wallets, folks, because you can now pre-order Life is Strange: Reunion on Steam, the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store.
There are multiple editions for you to pick from as well. Besides the standard game, you can also get the Deluxe Edition, Twin Pack, and Collector’s Edition of the title.
The Deluxe Edition comes with access to a digital comic, art book, soundtrack, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary. The Twin Pack is a bundle that gets you the standard editions of both Life is Strange: Reunion and Life Is Strange: Double Exposure. Finally, the Collector's Edition comes with a bunch of goodies, including the likes of a Vinyl soundtrack, Polaroid art cards, exclusive artwork, and more.
However, no matter which edition you pre-order, you'll get a Max and Chloe Classic Outfits DLC for free. Keep in mind, though, that this DLC is also available with the purchase of any edition until May 5, 2026, so it isn't a massive exclusive if that is something you are after.
