Life is Strange Reunion is bringing ya gals back together, but if you missed out on Max's return to the gamepad, you'll want to catch up on Double Exposure before the next instalment.

This is going to be a quick turnaround - Life is Strange Reunion hits the shelves on March 26. If you've been holding off for a discount on the previous release, like I have, now's the time to get that deal-hunting hat on. I was dismayed to see the 2025 instalment at full price across pretty much every official digital storefront I checked this morning, but - as is often the case - physical copies are offering some relief from that $49.99 / £49.99 MSRP. You'll find the cheapest ways to play Life is Strange Double Exposure right now just below.

Do you need to play Life is Strange: Double Exposure before Reunion?

This is a difficult question to answer, not least because I'm trying to write it without finding out any spoilers for myself. It does look like the events of Double Exposure are pretty crucial to Reunion, though - just going off how many characters I don't recognise in the trailer. Hey, I've been with Max and Chloe since the start, but Max's return caught me at a particularly busy time. I'll definitely be playing through last year's game before getting my hands on Reunion.

Square Enix's own FAQ page pretty much confirms it as well, stating, "While we would always encourage you to play the previous titles for the full emotional impact... Life is Strange: Reunion accommodates both new and returning players." Excuse me, I need full emotional impact.

Is Life is Strange: Double Exposure worth it?

When Heather reviewed the latest Life is Strange adventure, she stated it "feels like it's laying the groundwork for something bigger." Come at me Heather, it was.

Now that we know Reunion is on the cards, the sprawling cast of characters and dual timelines make a lot more sense. Overall, we awarded it a 3.5 / 5 stars in our Life is Strange: Double Exposure review, noting its excellent sense of mystery (a core mechanic of all Life is Strange titles) and commending it on facial animations in particular. Hopefully the next instalment gives us a bit more depth in those characterisations.
