The Nioh series could potentially be making its Xbox or Nintendo debut with Nioh 3 as Sony confirms six months of exclusivity.
Nioh has silently been one of the best PlayStation console exclusives for almost a decade now, with both it and its sequel being beloved FromSoftware-inspired action games from the makers of the also-extremely-difficult Ninja Gaiden series. The games were published by Sony outside of Japan, which explains why they were only ever released for PS4, PS5, and PC over the years. However, it looks like this could be about to change as the Koei Tecmo-published Nioh 3 could be heading to other consoles.

We already knew that Nioh 3 will be launching on PC day one – as opposed to late releases with the previous games – but the latest trailer for Nioh 3 on the PS5 splash screen at the end, advertising its console exclusivity, there's an asterisk detailing some interesting info: "Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 6 months after February 6, 2026."

Now obviously, this doesn't mean that Nioh 3 will release on other platforms on August 6, 2026 – the console exclusivity disclaimers on Final Fantasy 7 Remake are proof enough of that – or that it will even come to other platforms at all (lookin' at you Demon's Souls), however with the mixture of this disclaimer and Koei Tecmo publishing, I reckon it's a fair bet. The real question will then be, is it also coming to Nintendo Switch 2? And will the other Nioh games be released on other platforms alongside the third one? Check back in August, I guess!
