Subscribe to our newsletterEpic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has, in the past, opposed the AI disclosure tags that appear on relevant Steam listings because he's sure it harms "small developers." But Epic Games Store VP and GM Steve Allison takes a softer, though similar, stance in a new interview with GamesRadar+, telling us the storefront's position on AI-generated content isn't really up to its executives – it's up to you.
After GamesRadar+ asked Allison to clarify the Epic Games Store's stance on AI, he tells us, "We do not police how developers make their games," and that includes whether or not they choose to use AI.
Echoing boss Sweeney, Allison adds that if AI "helps a small team punch above their weight class, I don't personally view it through the same lens as some people do." Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lead writer Daniel Vávra shared a similar sentiment on Twitter in 2025, maintaining that, while generative AI might trigger "the demise of humanity," it could at least "help me make an epic game in a year with a smaller team like in the old days."
