Marjorie Taylor Green Slams Trump Admin Over Refusal To Rule Out Iran War Draft: 'Not My Son, Over My Dead Body'

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized the Trump administration after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to categorically rule out the possibility of a military draft amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Leavitt was asked on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures about concerns from families that the escalating conflict could lead to U.S. troops being deployed or a draft being reinstated. "Mothers out there are worried that we're going to have a draft, that they're going to see their sons and daughters get involved in this," host Maria Bartiromo said.

Leavitt replied that the administration intends to continue relying on air operations but would not rule out other options. "President Trump wisely does not remove options off of the table," she said, adding that a draft is "not part of the current plan."

Greene reacted to the exchange in a post on X:

"Karoline Leavitt doesn't rule out a draft. How about the answer is NO DRAFT AND NO BOOTS ON THE GROUND because we campaigned on NO MORE FOREIGN WARS OR REGIME CHANGE!!! Liars every single one of them! Not my son, over my dead body!!!!!"

In another post, Greene said some Republicans support expanding Selective Service to include women. "Trump and Republicans need to guarantee that there will be NO DRAFT AND NEVER DRAFT OUR DAUGHTERS," she wrote.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also declined to set limits on the scope of the conflict in an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes, as The Independent points out. "You don't tell the enemy, you don't tell the press, you don't tell anybody what your limits would be on an operation," he said. "We're willing to go as far as we need to in order to be successful."

The comments came as concerns about a potential draft resurfaced following recent changes proposed in the National Defense Authorization Act that would automatically register eligible men for the Selective Service System. The U.S. has not used compulsory military service since 1973, and reinstating a draft would require approval from Congress and the president.

Greene has repeatedly criticized the administration's military actions against Iran in recent weeks, arguing they contradict campaign promises to avoid new foreign conflicts. In earlier remarks, she accused Trump of abandoning the "America First" agenda and warned that the conflict could become another regime-change war.

"This is not what we campaigned for," Greene said in a social media post. "We said: NO MORE FOREIGN WARS AND NO MORE REGIME CHANGE."
