Subscribe to our newsletterOne of my biggest pet peeves with the Meta Quest 3 and 3S is that their controllers take AA batteries and don't charge via USB-C. They also run out of battery constantly, seemingly while you aren't even using them, and it's a total pain coming back to your VR headset for the first time in a while and finding your controllers are dead.
I got so sick of that issue, especially because I had no other means of recharging some AA batteries, that I had to shoot for a more elegant solution. PrismXR's charging stand was the path I walked down, and I'm so glad I did. Not only does it charge and store my headset away neatly when I'm not using it, but it keeps my controllers powered up for the next time I need them. The best Meta Quest accessories are supposed to make a product like the Quest 3 better, and this definitely does by negating one of my pet peeves.

PrismXR D1 Carina Charging Dock for Quest 3 | £69.99 £54.99 at AmazonSave £15 - Now is a good time to grab one of these charging stands for your own setup, because it's in the Amazon Spring Sale. While UK readers will be the only ones with access to this saving right now, US readers may see a similar deal pop up soon.
Buy it if:
✅You're sick of putting new AA batteries in your Quest 3 controllers✅ You need a charging stand anyway
Don't buy it if:
❌ You have a Quest 3S (there's a slightly different version for that headset)
View DealI really love the convenience of the PrismXR D1 Carina charging stand. Compared to a lot of other Meta Quest accessories that aim to charge and display your headset and controllers, this one does so neatly, without being too space-hungry with a wide stand, or one that's too high and won't fit on a shelf.
Not only that, but it comes with the specific parts you need to keep your controllers charged with your headset. In the box, you'll find some magnetic battery covers for your controllers that are easy to snap into place. Combine that with the included AA rechargeable batteries, and you've got a set of controllers that feels brand new. They'll now magnetically attach to the charging stand underneath your headset and will be ready to go for your next session.
All that, and it's technically not even the main draw of this product. There are no awkward wires or faff to keeping your headset on PrismXR's charging dock either. It utilizes the magnetic pins on the bottom of your headset to keep the battery topped up, so it really is a case of just placing the headset down and picking it up. Well, mostly.
There's solid clearance for you if you use an Elite head strap - I've tested this charging station with two different types. But it can make placing the headset down onto those pins a bit more of a headache, and I learned the hard way that if you don't put it down exactly so that there's a strong connection, the charging stand will beep at you... a lot.
Once you figure that out though, this might be one of the best Meta Quest 3 charging stands out there. While its current discount isn't massive, it's already cheaper than some of the more flamboyant head straps and charging stands you'll find at Amazon. I think it's pretty good value, and it's serving me just fine months after reviewing it.

Ever since I've been in love with video games and their technology. After graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with a degree in Journalism, I contributed to the Scottish Games Network and completed an Editorial Internship at Expert Reviews. Over the last decade, I’ve been managing my own YouTube channel about my love of games too. These days, I'm one of the resident hardware nerds at GamesRadar+, and I take the lead on our coverage of gaming PCs, VR, controllers, gaming chairs, and content creation gear. Now, I better stop myself here before I get talking about my favourite games like HUNT: Showdown, Dishonored, and Towerfall Ascension.
