Cute accessories are my bread and butter. My desk is cluttered with pink controllers, headsets, and I even have a pink mini-fridge set up and filled with gaming-related snacks. Yet, any time a friend stumbles into my cozy office and asks to see the most adorable accessory, I instinctively reach for the Divoom Ditoo Retro Pizel Bluetooth Speaker.

It can be a bit of a hard sell to friends despite its pretty, retro-PC aesthetic. It's not one of the best gaming sound systems, and instead remains just a niche device that can display cute pixel art and play music at the same time. It usually costs around £89.99 too, which is a lot to spend on something that has no relation to actually playing PC games. However, Amazon's Big Spring Sale has dropped it down to just £69.98 (Amazon), a few pounds off its lowest ever price to date. If you love sprite art and niche cute gadgets, it's worth every penny.

The Divoom Ditoo Retro Pixel Art Bluetooth Speaker is a compact retro-PC style device with a 16 x 16 LED display. You can use it to show off static or animated pixel art that you've created or downloaded via the Divoom app, or play music over Bluetooth from your smartphone or gaming PC. It's also equipped with mini-games, and can be charged via a USB-C port to provide up to 8-hours of pixel-art playback.

If you've never heard of the 'Divoom' brand before and are still unsure of what a pixel art Bluetooth speaker is, it's essentially a little device that can show off static or animated pixel art. There's an accompanying free-to-download app where you can create your own art, or download from a huge range of community-designed pieces, that you can then display on screen and show off at your desk.

As I have a particular love for everything to do with the pink puffball Kirby, I like to have the 16 x 16 LCD screen showing off the cute fella while I sit and play completely unrelated games on my PC. The colors of the display are bright and vivid, with art by Divoom app user Twilights (which you can see in my photo below) being able to light up my entire desk. That's just the way I like it, as horrors of Paranormasight and my favorite spooky games are a lot easier to handle when you can glance to the side and see a bouncing Kirby doing their thing on a little screen.

I rarely use it to play music myself, but its speaker does pack a punch. It can connect to your PC or your smartphone via Bluetooth, and it can even run track names from Spotify across its screen. Rather than using it more for music, I actually recommend it for any streaming aficionados looking for the best streaming gear, as there's a ton of Twitch logos and art available on the app to display. You can then have this speaker in the background of a stream, which I've seen plenty of people do in the past.

You'll have a better effect by grabbing one of Divoom's Timebox Evo speakers, which are also down to £37.98 (Amazon) today. These can be fastened to your wall and are much easier to show off as a result. Yet, either it or the Divoom Ditoo would considerably brighten up any gaming setup, or just brighten up your desk as a whole, as it does for mine.

This thing also has mini-games packed into it, if you've ever wanted to play a 16 x 16 version of Tetris. They're installed more as a little gimmick than a genuine alternative to the best retro handhelds, but it's nice that they're there. Overall, this is more of a niche pixel art and Bluetooth speaker combo for those who just want a silly, cute accessory to liven up their desk.

If that sounds like you, today's deal is worth grabbing. Plus, you don't have to stick to pick if your cozy setup is a little different from mine, as the white, green, blue, and black versions are all part of Amazon's Spring Sale too.

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
