Nintendo has released a trailer for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder Talking Flower figurine, and people are loving how chaotic it seems.
Despite fearing that their appearance would be annoying from pre-release footage, Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Talking Flower character (characters?) ended up being one of the highlights of the game for me, as I found all of the random little interjections super charming. And now that Nintendo is bringing the game back with, ahem, Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, merch for the 2023 release is coming back into the fold with new Amiibo and a Talking Flower to bring into your home.

Earlier this week, Nintendo released a trailer showing off the Talking Flower figure and revealed the features available. And while it has the features you'd expect like, y'know, talking, it's the weird personality quirks that really shine through. To start with the genuinely cool stuff, it detects temperatures and time and comments on them accordingly and thankfully – or sadly, if you're a real freak – it won't talk during the night.

Sure there's a button on the front of it that will make it talk, but the Talking Flower is not bound to such restrictions, as it will talk on its own twice per hour. And if its annoying you, you can hold the button down to make it stop talking… but only "for a while" before it decides to start chatting again. The absolute highlight is that the Talking Flower can tell you the time, but it can also simply get that time wrong, and it will occasionally speak in another language, because why not.
a clock that bold-face lies to you is the funniest fucking thing ever dude why hasn't anybody done this beforeJanuary 23, 2026
Reactions to the video have been positive with one Twitter user saying "a clock that bold-face lies to you is the funniest fucking thing ever dude why hasn't anybody done this before." Others chime in to point out that "Nintendo made a $35 rage bait device" and "This thing is completely fucking useless (affectionate)."
Despite his sheer amount of joy and whimsy, he has sent fear into the hearts of some, like Twitter user NoodleArms16. "When I'm eating dinner and I hear my talking flower in the other room mutter under their breath 'I wonder what YOU taste like.'" I must remind you that this is something the Talking Flower actually says in Mario Wonder.
