Subscribe to our newsletterFulfilling the Marathon Introducing Sekiguchi contract isn't easy as you need to inject a harmful Necrotic Sample and run across the perilous Outpost map. It's easily the hardest of the early-game contracts in Marathon purely because it's the first one that forces you onto Outpost, but it’s also necessary for accessing and upgrading Sekiguchi's selection of Runner Cores. So, to get the Introducing Sekiguchi Marathon contract done as smoothly as possible, check out the steps and advice below.
Marathon Introducing Sekiguchi walkthrough
The Introducing Sekiguchi Marathon contract has two bizarre objectives you need to complete in a single run on the brutal Outpost map: inject a Necrotic Sample found in Flight Control and scan your shell in Orientation.Firstly, you need to be Season Level 15 to have access to Outpost as one of your available Marathon maps. That means you won't be able to complete Introducing Sekiguchi and unlock the last of the Marathon factions until then. These objectives will also take you across the relatively small Outpost map, which means you'll likely face plenty of danger in the form of UESC, Heat Cascades, and fellow Runners. It's critical that you pack decent gear and plenty of healing into your loadout for runs on Outpost too or be prepared to skulk around as the Assassin shell, who is arguably the best for solo players as our Marathon tips say. With those warnings out the way, here's where you need to go to find the Necrotic Sample and scan your shell for this Sekiguchi Genetics contract:
- Head for the long Flight Control building in the northern half of Outpost and go up to the second floor. Floor numbers are plastered about on the building's walls, so use these to help you get to the right place.
- Go down the main corridor leading south. You should reach a point where there is a blue canteen on your left and grey and yellow wall on the right with a pile of yellow and grey panels stacked up against it.
- Pass the stack of panels and take the first door on the right into a small workshop room. A waypoint should guide you to where you need to look but you will immediately see a storage unit with magenta lights on it on the right as you go through the door.
- Search through the marked storage unit and grab the Necrotic Sample. Your Runner will automatically inject it, completing the first objective but also applying an effect that causes you to take a small amount of damage every 20 seconds. You can obviously heal through it, but you need to complete the next steps as quickly as possible.
- Leg it over to Orientation on the northwest side of Outpost and get to the second floor of the southeastern building.
- Pass the reception area and lockers and look for a white booth next to a window. A lime-green waypoint should guide you to this machine when you're close.
- Stand in the booth until the scan is complete.
Phew! With that, you've completed the Introducing Sekiguchi quest and can end your run on Outpost – be warned as you'll either need to brave a guarded exfil or some keycards to unlock an exfil site on this map.

Cash in the contract with ONI and you'll get several Marathon Cores, some Credits, and some Unstable Diodes as a reward. You'll obviously also connect with SekGen's AI agent Nona who wants you to help with the company's combat shell research by doing some field testing. You'll also have access to Sekiguchi upgrades and their Armory wares, which mostly comprises Cores that can alter and improve the capabilities of all Marathon Runner Shells.
