Subscribe to our newsletterThe Ghost of Yotei Legends co-op update is imminent, meaning players will soon be able to join with up to three friends in different game modes and continue their battle with the Yotei Six. However, rather than being an immediate continuation of Atsu's story, the events here take place many years later to revolve around mythical and exaggerated tales of these warlords, making the challenge more suited to multiple players. To find out more about how this will work, here's everything we know so far about how to start online co-op in Ghost of Yotei Legends.
When is Ghost of Yotei Legends available?
Ghost of Yotei Legends will be available to all players for free from March 10, 2026, following a patch to update the game to version 1.5, though some territories including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand won't receive this patch until March 11 local time. This will add a Legends option to the main menu, where you can access the lobby and set up online co-op with your friends.
How to set up online co-op in Ghost of Yotei Legends
The exact details of how to set up online co-op in Ghost of Yotei Legends haven't been revealed just yet, though thanks to a recent PlayStation Blog post we do have some information about what to expect. When you launch into Legends mode you'll be taken into an interactive lobby area, where you can admire the feats you've achieved, unlock new cosmetics, adjust your tech tree, and tweak your build.

This lobby also has light elements of PvP, meaning you can compete against other players in Zeni Hajiki (the coin-flicking game) and a Bamboo Strike score challenge with mini leaderboards. Additionally you can engage in training within this lobby to hone your skills, so there's plenty to keep you busy while you're waiting for friends or between rounds.
What modes are available in Ghost of Yotei Legends
At launch, there will be three Ghost of Yotei Legends online co-op modes available, which are:
- Two player story missions: Take on themed story missions around the first four bosses – the Spider, the Oni, the Kitsune, and the Snake.
- Four player Incursion missions: The conclusion of each story mission strand, to fight and take down the boss it's based around.
- Four player Survival: Area and wave defense with four missions available, themed around each of the bosses.
Coming in April, there will also be a Raid mode added, which involves taking on the final two members of the Yotei Six – the Dragon and Lord Saito. This has been dubbed as 'four player, hardcore content' as while it's possible to complete the previous missions without a full complement of fighters, you can't do the Raid with fewer as you won't survive otherwise.
